Alhaji Bature, the managing editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper, has said that Ibrahim Mahama loves President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Bature’s remarks come as some members of the public accuse Ibrahim of defrauding the state over some dud cheques he allegedly gave to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) as payment for import duties he owed the state. Speaking on Accra-based Adom FM, Bature rejected assertions that Ibrahim had defrauded the country.
He said the brother of former president John Mahama would be the last person to defraud Ghana because he believed in the leadership qualities of Akufo-Addo. Nana Akufo-Addo Bature said Ibrahim had privately praised Akufo-Addo for his efforts to empower local businesses.
“He is a proud Ghanaian and will be the last person to engage in acts that will be detrimental to the state. His brother was the president but he was full of praise for Nana Addo for promising policies that will empower the local businessman because it appears businesses in Ghana have been taken over by expatriates”, he said.
The editor added that Ibrahim wishes to see Akufo-Addo succeed as president, despite the fact that he beat his brother in the 2016 election.
